About Los Alcazares
The region
Widely regarded as one of the most attractive regions within Spain. The Murcia region enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year, during winter, the warm sun and mild climate is a major attraction to many people. The historic city of Murcia, 30 minutes by car, with its many squares & narrow streets of shops is well worth exploring. The Roman city of Cartagena has a tourist attraction programme; you can visit the Roman Theatre, take a boat around the harbour and discover the history of the civil war. Alicante is also worth visiting for its lovely port area and castle high up over the city, as is Cartagena. The views are amazing and they often host art / sculpture work.
There is an excellent water park, 20 mins by car in Torrevieja. It has plenty of water slides, a wave pool and many places to sit and just enjoy the sun with a cold drink. Details will be provided.
La Manga golf and sports complex is a 15 min drive and there are numerous other golf courses within a short distance. A new sailing / kayaking school is opening up on the Mar Menor. Go karting is available at two different locations.
Airports:
The nearest international airport is Murcia (San Javier) is just a 5- minute drive away. Cheap flights are available to this airport with Easy Jet, Ryan Air, Fly BE, Jet 2.com and BA.
Alicante airport is only 50 mins away and there are cheap flights available to this airport from across the UK .
Car Hire is available from www.carjet.com and we recommend you pre-book to save yourself time at Murcia airport, although a car is not essential if you holiday here. Taxi's are available from Alicante Airport, and Murcia airport.
The Costa Del Golf
Roda Golf, the Dave Thomas designed 18 hole golf course is only a two minute drive from the apartment as is the towns own municipal course.There are currently 9 golf courses within a 10 to 15 minute drive including Villa Martin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, La Finca and the championship courses at La Manga. There are a further 10 courses currently under construction. You could feasibly be teeing off 30 minutes after landing at Murcia airport. The area really is deserving of it's "Costa Del Golf" label.
Los Alcazares:
Los Alcazares (pronounced 'los-alcatha-res') is situated in the Murcia region of south-eastern Spain , also known as the Costa Calida ( Warm Coast). Indeed the area enjoys an average of 320 days of sunshine each year. The town sits on the western shore of the Mar Menor, a saltwater lagoon separated from the Mediterranean Sea by a 22 kilometre strip of land called La Manga.
There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants for drinks, tapas, meals and entertainment. The town is very flat, so ideal for walking or cycling. The warm water of the Mar Menor makes the town a paradise for bathers and water sports enthusiasts. Its mineral-rich water has been revered for its health-giving properties since Roman times & the surrounding area is flat, easy for walking & cycling.
Market days are Saturday & Tuesday when a variety of goods are available. Fiestas take place throughout the year, please contact us if you require any specific details.
