It was great to see a full field again for our third event. A full handicap stableford was won convincingly by Jamie Simpson. Golfingdays internal handicap system will be at work for the mandatory cut for our winner.

Our next event is our first ever 36 hole event being held at Enville Golf Club. It is a magnificent venue with 2 of the finest 18 holes of golf in the Midlands and we are playing them both. Food will be served throughout the day. Hope to see you all there for what should be a great day.

We have set up a new website called www.juniorgolfingdays.co.uk

This mini tour is aimed at kids between the ages of 6-14 who have yet to get handicaps. Basically academy golfers. We have 4 events all taking place during the school summer holidays at short but quality par 3 courses around the midlands. The winners on each of these days, plus the runners up in each category will qualify to play in the grand final at the highly rated Nailcote Hall, which is home to the British Par 3 championships.

All entry forms can be downloaded from the new website. 50p from each entry will go to our chosen charity which is the Golf Foundation.

It was great to see a full field again for our second event. Bacon rolls were served, 18 holes of t-shirt golf all rounded off by a magnificent 3 course meal and prize giving.

3 competitors tied on 38 points, all scored 19 points on the back 9 so it came to a back 6 countback. Alan Turbull  triumphed with  15 points for his last 6 holes and has moved up to joint 2nd place in the Order of Merit with last years winner Sean Pearson. Jon Beese is still leading the way but only by a single point. There are 12 competitors within 7 points of our leader.

It was great to see a full field for our opening event and all competitors enjoyed themselves. They all started off with bacon rolls, played the magnificent Arden course and finished of with prizes and a fish and chip dinner

This years Order of Merit winner will be off to Antequera in Spain courtesy of our sponsor Villegas Golf Ltd. Antequera is situated in the hills 40 minutes North of Malaga. It is one of the oldest towns in Andalucia and offers many traditional restaurants and bars. The golf course is exceptional. It is built into the hills which makes accuracy a must.

The OOM winners options are:

We begin our season as per tradition on the Championship Course at The Forest of Arden. It is a full handicap stableford.

As in all our events we provide food before and after each round.

We move on in March to The wonderful setting of Stapleford Park GC and then in April to Brocton Hall GC.

May sees us introduce our first 36 hole day at the stunning Enville GC.

Coxmoor Golf Club is proud to be the home club of PGA Professionals Greg Owen (currently playing on the USPGA Tour) and Oliver Wilson (playing on the European Tour). Both Greg and Oliver are Honorary Members of Coxmoor and remain pleased to be referred to as ‘Playing out of Coxmoor Golf Club’.

The course is heathland and was established in 1913. The Regional Qualifier for the Open was held at Coxmoor in 1992 and 1993 and again from 1996 to 2001 and we are hopeful that it will return in the near future. In August 2008 the Club hosted the Reid Trophy, the under-14 Boy’s International. The Club was proud to host this tournament, which is recognition of the quality the Course can offer.

The Open History

The Open Course comprises a front nine, set around an impressive lake and waterways complex that not only offers a golfing challenge, but is also home to a considerable amount of wildlife. The back nine offers a challenge with mature trees strategically placed to make it a true parkland course. The only course for Golf in Nottingham.

The Masters History

The Masters course was extended in 1997 from a 9-hole to an 18-hole course, with the new nine designed by Peter Alliss. The front nine has recently undergone some major renovation and remodelling, and combines hedgerows and undulating fairways with large greens and water features. The perfect place for Golf in Nottingham.

Enville Golf Club is a private members club and was founded in 1935 with a nine hole course. The facilities were gradually extended over a period of years until 1983, when two eighteen hole courses were completed.

The Highgate and Lodge courses have nine holes of majestic woodland and nine holes of picturesque heathland and are frequently used to host P.G.A. E.G.U. and County events. We are proud to host the Midland Regional Open qualifying round from 2007 to 2011.

The club is situated in the beautiful South Staffordshire countryside, yet convenient for motorway and trunk road access.

History

• Enville Golf Club, situated about a mile from the village of Enville, was founded in 1935 by a group of local enthusiasts who met in January of that year, in a nearby hostelry, to consider the possibility of creating a golf course on the Common near Enville.Land was leased for 21 years following negotiations with Sir John Grey of Enville Hall, who accepted the honour of becoming the clubs first president.

  The first nine holes and a newly erected clubhouse were officially brought into use on 19th October 1935.

  The course was extended to 18 holes and brought into play on the 7th May 1938. During the ensuing years considerable improvements were made to the 18-hole course, several holes being re-designed and thereby adding some 600 yards to the original layout.

  In 1969 the clubhouse was moved to a former farmhouse, the interior of the buildings being considerably re-designed to form the existing facilities. The original clubhouse was then demolished.

  In 1973 a further 9 holes were added to the existing 18 holes and formed the Red, White and Yellow courses of 9 holes each.

  During the construction of the third 9 holes in the woodland, three stones (erected to commemorate the replanting of trees to replace those hewn down to smelt iron-ore in the furnace along the River Stour) were re-sited near the 16th tee of the present Highgate Course.

  The final 9 holes, constructed in the Lodge plantation, were brought into use on Captains Day in 1983 and the 36 holes were reorganised into two courses of 18 holes each, identified as the Highgate Course and the Lodge Course respectively.

  The two courses are set in pleasant, undulating country, partly heath land and partly woodland, forming contrasting features, which make for the most exciting golf and remove any impression of monotony. With two such magnificent courses sited in sylvan surroundings and far removed from the urban areas, Enville Golf Club must surely be one of the finest in the country for playing golf, as is made evident by the tremendous number of visitors it attracts
