This years Order of Merit winner will be off to Antequera in Spain courtesy of our sponsor Villegas Golf Ltd. Antequera is situated in the hills 40 minutes North of Malaga. It is one of the oldest towns in Andalucia and offers many traditional restaurants and bars. The golf course is exceptional. It is built into the hills which makes accuracy a must.

The OOM winners options are:

1. 2 people for a 3 night break with 2 rounds of golf with buggies to be taken before 31st March 2013

2. Entry into Golfingdays Overseas Am Am at Antequera from 1st – 4th November 2012.  Which consists of 3 nights and 3 rounds of golf with buggies, plus a gala presentation meal on the final night. This is a two person team event so your partner comes for free too.

This is our 5th season of providing quality events at quality venues.

We begin our season as per tradition on the Championship Course at The Forest of Arden. It is a full handicap stableford.

As in all our events we provide food before and after each round.

We move on in March to The wonderful setting of Stapleford Park GC and then in April to Brocton Hall GC.

May sees us introduce our first 36 hole day at the stunning Enville GC.

We are looking forward to welcoming some new faces and some regular faces from down the years in February. Let the race to Spain begin.

Coxmoor Golf Club is proud to be the home club of PGA Professionals Greg Owen (currently playing on the USPGA Tour) and Oliver Wilson (playing on the European Tour). Both Greg and Oliver are Honorary Members of Coxmoor and remain pleased to be referred to as ‘Playing out of Coxmoor Golf Club’.

The course is heathland and was established in 1913. The Regional Qualifier for the Open was held at Coxmoor in 1992 and 1993 and again from 1996 to 2001 and we are hopeful that it will return in the near future. In August 2008 the Club hosted the Reid Trophy, the under-14 Boy’s International. The Club was proud to host this tournament, which is recognition of the quality the Course can offer.

The Open History

The Open Course comprises a front nine, set around an impressive lake and waterways complex that not only offers a golfing challenge, but is also home to a considerable amount of wildlife. The back nine offers a challenge with mature trees strategically placed to make it a true parkland course. The only course for Golf in Nottingham.

The Masters History

The Masters course was extended in 1997 from a 9-hole to an 18-hole course, with the new nine designed by Peter Alliss. The front nine has recently undergone some major renovation and remodelling, and combines hedgerows and undulating fairways with large greens and water features. The perfect place for Golf in Nottingham.

Enville Golf Club is a private members club and was founded in 1935 with a nine hole course. The facilities were gradually extended over a period of years until 1983, when two eighteen hole courses were completed.

The Highgate and Lodge courses have nine holes of majestic woodland and nine holes of picturesque heathland and are frequently used to host P.G.A. E.G.U. and County events. We are proud to host the Midland Regional Open qualifying round from 2007 to 2011.

The club is situated in the beautiful South Staffordshire countryside, yet convenient for motorway and trunk road access.

History

• Enville Golf Club, situated about a mile from the village of Enville, was founded in 1935 by a group of local enthusiasts who met in January of that year, in a nearby hostelry, to consider the possibility of creating a golf course on the Common near Enville.Land was leased for 21 years following negotiations with Sir John Grey of Enville Hall, who accepted the honour of becoming the clubs first president.

  The first nine holes and a newly erected clubhouse were officially brought into use on 19th October 1935.

  The course was extended to 18 holes and brought into play on the 7th May 1938. During the ensuing years considerable improvements were made to the 18-hole course, several holes being re-designed and thereby adding some 600 yards to the original layout.

  In 1969 the clubhouse was moved to a former farmhouse, the interior of the buildings being considerably re-designed to form the existing facilities. The original clubhouse was then demolished.

  In 1973 a further 9 holes were added to the existing 18 holes and formed the Red, White and Yellow courses of 9 holes each.

  During the construction of the third 9 holes in the woodland, three stones (erected to commemorate the replanting of trees to replace those hewn down to smelt iron-ore in the furnace along the River Stour) were re-sited near the 16th tee of the present Highgate Course.

  The final 9 holes, constructed in the Lodge plantation, were brought into use on Captains Day in 1983 and the 36 holes were reorganised into two courses of 18 holes each, identified as the Highgate Course and the Lodge Course respectively.

  The two courses are set in pleasant, undulating country, partly heath land and partly woodland, forming contrasting features, which make for the most exciting golf and remove any impression of monotony. With two such magnificent courses sited in sylvan surroundings and far removed from the urban areas, Enville Golf Club must surely be one of the finest in the country for playing golf, as is made evident by the tremendous number of visitors it attracts

We have nine events in 2012, and have introduced two 36 hole events at Enville Golf Club and The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.

Each event is an individual competition in its own right with great daily prizes. At each event you earn order of merit points with the season long winner winning a great trip to Andalucia in Spain for 3 nights, 2 rounds of golf with buggies.

Food is served before and after each event.

If you enter all nine at once you receive a 15% discount and 10% for entering seven at once.

We alternate between full and 3/4 handicap through out the season.

The closing date for entries is March 31st 2012. The draw will be made in early April.

The competition is split into 4 midlands regions, South, North, East & West. The first round will be played on a home and away basis so you are guaranteed 2 rounds of golf when entering. The winners of each region will qualify for a 36 hole grand final day at a top Midlands Golf Course.

The whole thing was well organised and we were so well looked after. Wonderful food and drink organised for us each night with the option to drop in or out- perfect. Always knew where we had to be by when and everything was in place when we got there!!
I loved the course – totally awesome & we’ll be back – and the crowd of characters that we got to meet were great.
A memorable golfing break that I will always treasure.

It was a great turnout for our second year. The only slight difference was the weather.  In 2010 we were treated to 4 days of beautiful warm sunshine, this year however was very different as the temps dropped and the rain came.

Although the weather wasn’t friendly it didn’t detract from a thoroughally enjoyable few days for all involved. We did however have to reducd the event to 27 holes due to the downpour we suffered on day 1.

This year we had a great mix of mens teams, ladies teams and mixed teams. Rodrigo of Villegas golf Ltd ensured we all enjoyed our nights out by booking some of the best eateries in town, which were enjoyed by all that attended them.

As for the competiton after day 1 (9 holes only) in a 3/4 betterball handicap stableford, the Liverpudlian duo of Mark Radcliffe & Neil O Hara took the spoils in our daily sweep with a very impressive 19 points in tough conditions, closely followed by the duo of Paul Fewings and Andy Tucker of North Devon, followed by the Leicestershire based duo of Paul Dixon and Jim Longstaff.

With no rain forecast for the final round of the comp on Saturday there was all to play for. Our returning duo from 2010 Kate Docherty and Martina Syron of Northern Ireland and Wimbledon respectively played inspirational golf and shot a magnificent 43 points to claim the title on a second round countback from our Liverpudlian duo Mark Radcliffe and Neil O Hara.

Final combined Results were as follows:

3rd    Paul Dixon & Jim Longstaff                       55 points

4th    David McNair & Tony McDonald            53 points
