Golfing Days Overseas Am Am 2011

November 7th, 2011

Golfing Days has just returned from Antequera in Spain after a very successful 2nd Overseas Am Am.

It was a great turnout for our second year. The only slight difference was the weather.  In 2010 we were treated to 4 days of beautiful warm sunshine, this year however was very different as the temps dropped and the rain came.

Although the weather wasn’t friendly it didn’t detract from a thoroughally enjoyable few days for all involved. We did however have to reducd the event to 27 holes due to the downpour we suffered on day 1.

This year we had a great mix of mens teams, ladies teams and mixed teams. Rodrigo of Villegas golf Ltd ensured we all enjoyed our nights out by booking some of the best eateries in town, which were enjoyed by all that attended them.

As for the competiton after day 1 (9 holes only) in a 3/4 betterball handicap stableford, the Liverpudlian duo of Mark Radcliffe & Neil O Hara took the spoils in our daily sweep with a very impressive 19 points in tough conditions, closely followed by the duo of Paul Fewings and Andy Tucker of North Devon, followed by the Leicestershire based duo of Paul Dixon and Jim Longstaff.

With no rain forecast for the final round of the comp on Saturday there was all to play for. Our returning duo from 2010 Kate Docherty and Martina Syron of Northern Ireland and Wimbledon respectively played inspirational golf and shot a magnificent 43 points to claim the title on a second round countback from our Liverpudlian duo Mark Radcliffe and Neil O Hara.

Final combined Results were as follows:

1st     Kate Docherty & Martina Syron             58 points

2nd    Mark Radcliffe & Neil o Hara                    58 points

3rd    Paul Dixon & Jim Longstaff                       55 points

4th    David McNair & Tony McDonald            53 points

Congratulations to all our daily prize winners as well as the 4 couples above. Details of 2012′s Overseas Am Am will be available in the New Year, we hope to see you all again next year.
